Be fearless. The biggest mistake you can make is doing nothing.
Start small by focusing on the Big Three: Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin. Set up accounts and get familiar with them.
Look at what similar businesses are doing and decide what you like. And don’t like.
Think about your message. Social networking is about content. Make sure you provide value to your followers. It can be industry information, social network-only specials, news updates or what you feel helps reach your marketing goals.
It’s a conversation, not a one-way talk. So get ready to engage with your potential clients and customers.
On Facebook, include your company’s basic information: address, telephone number, Web site address. Upload photos and videos.
Once you’ve set up in Twitter, put out that first tweet and start following others who fit into what you’re doing. In no time, you’ll get followers.
Linkedin is just as easy to join and will provide you with plenty of contacts to connect with.
Tip: don’t link your social media accounts; it gives you more control to keep them separated.
The key when starting is spending time on each network. They are intuitive, easy to use and quick to learn.
Once you start, don’t stop. It doesn’t have to take up a lot of time. Just keep an eye on your networks, stay in touch and keep the content flowing.
